Tom Vaught

Tom Junior Vaught, 82, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015 in Kaufman, Texas. Tom was born to Tom and Gurnell Fletcher on March 29, 1933 in Emory, Texas. At age 18, Tom was adopted by R.M and Odell Vaught. Tom went on to service his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Daphene Wade on July 25, 1955 in Durant, Oklahoma. They would have two children, Carol and Charles. Tom would work as a fabricator and later a shop manager for Hughes Steel for many years before retiring. Tom is preceded in death by his birth parents, Tom and Gurnell Fletcher; his adopted parents, R.M. "Bud" and Odell Vaught; brothers, Kenneth Fletcher and Fred Vaught. Those left to celebrate his life include Daphene Vaught - the love of his life for over 60 years; son Charles Vaught and his wife Elva; daughter Carol Dodd and her husband Dennis; grandchildren, Jessie Hernandez and her husband Jordan; Elizabeth Thorpe and her husband Chad, Leslie Hock and her husband James, Emma Vaught; great-grandchildren, Landry Thorpe and Lucas Hock; brothers, Jacke Joe Fletcher and his wife Annette, Ronnie Gene Fletcher and his wife Patrice; sisters, Tommie Sue Brummit and Kay Fletcher; as well numerous extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. The interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery immediately after the service. Brother Kenneth Ishmael will officiate.
