Ruby Dorsey

Ruby Lee Dorsey, 88, of Terrell, passed away January 1, 2012 in Dallas. She was born March 21, 1923 in Blackjack Community in Kaufman County, the daughter of Carl and Marie (Monk) Henson. Ruby married Leon Dorsey on October 15, 1940 in Kaufman. She was a graduate of Kaufman High School and Navarro Junior College with her Certificate of Nursing. She was a devoted nurse for 30 years at Terrell State Hospital before her retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Brin Street Church of Christ and the family encourage that memorials be made to the Church in her honor. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Leon Dorsey and his wife Patricia of Terrell and Michael Lynn Dorsey and his wife Cynthia of Terrell; grandchildren, Kevin Stewart, Tony Dorsey, Andrea Dorsey Bankston, Terry Dorsey, and Tori Dorsey; great grandchildren, Connor, Bryan and Natalie Bankston; sister, Joyce Pollan of Stephenville; cousins, Hazel Vick and Leta Fay High; and best friend Alfa Floyd. Ruby is preceded in her death by her husband; parents; sister, Fannie Mae Putman; and brother Harvey Henson. Her service will be Thursday, January 5, at 1:00 pm at Goggans Funeral Home, with Brother Gene Glaeser officiating. Burial will follow the service at College Mound Cemetery in Terrell. Visitation with the family is planned for Wednesday night, January 4, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
