Marilyn Lee James passed away in her home on August 7, 2011 of natural causes. Born Marilyn Lee Mueller on January 27, 1932 in Dallas Texas to Bonnie Lee and Walter Mueller, she was a 1949 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. Marilyn married Paul E. James on June 26, 1970. They resided in Dallas until moving to the Ables Springs community in the mid 70s and built what is now known as the James Community. Marilyns love of life was contagious as well as her sense of humor and quick wit. She was the heart of the Wednesday Dairy Queen Girls and enjoyed immensely her volunteer work at the museum in Quinlan Texas. Second hand shops were a favorite pastime and My Sisters Closet was a frequent shopping destination with friends and family. She loved all animals, especially her own dogs and cats. Marilyn James was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 2004 and step daughter, Jill Mandrell in 2008. Survivors include sister, Patsy Travis; step daughters, Donne Ruiz, Sally James, and Victoria Crawford and husband Dan; son-in law, Fred Mandrell; niece, Tina Travis; nephew, Scott Travis; various grand children, great grand children and great nieces. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Friday August 12, 2011 at Goggans Funeral Home with Brother Jimmy Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow the service at Ables Springs Cemetery. There will be a visitation and viewing 6-8 pm Thursday August 11 at the funeral home. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to My Sisters Closet and Texas Best Choice Animal Rescue, both in Quinlan Texas.
