John Ernest Sweat, 66, of Terrell, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. John was born on June 8, 1949 to Jesse and Mary Sweat in Baxley Georgia. John went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force. Upon leaving the armed services, John went to work for the United States Postal Service, retiring after 34 years of service. John would marry Glenda Underwood - the love of his life for over forty-six years. They would have two children; John E. "Johnny", Jr. and Connie. John loved life and celebrated every day of his sixty-six years. He loved to travel, games of chance; to go shopping, looking for antiques. He enjoyed carpentry and building things with his hands. But most of all, he loved doing all these things with his family and friends. John loved people. He liked meeting new friends - no one was ever a stranger. His compassionate spirit, open heart, infectious laugh and awesome lust for life will truly be missed by all who knew and loved John. John is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Mary Sweat; his brother, Jeff Sweat and sister, Brenda Johnson. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife and soul-mate, Glenda Sweat; son, John E. Sweat, Jr.; daughter Connie Heathcock and her husband Robert; grandchildren, Dakota, Dylan and Cooper; sister, Beverly Adkins; special "sidekick, Pyper; as well as numerous nieces and nephews,extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. The interment will immediately follow the service on Monday at Weaver Cemetery, Terrell, Texas. Reverend Bob Whitten will officiate.
