Mr. Jerry Lloyd Kennedy passed away peacefully at 6:45 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2021, with his family by his side. Jerry Kennedy's Interment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 1:15 P.M. with a Celebration of his life to follow at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Terrell, Texas on August 15, 2021 at 4:00 P.M.
Jerry Kennedy was born on April 30, 1941 in Dallas, Tx, to Lloyd Edward Kennedy and Doris Juanita Worchester. He served his country in the U.S. Army from October 22, 1958 to October 20, 1961 where he was Honorably Discharged. While in the Army he was stationed in Korea and then while state side he was stationed with Company B 2nd Brigade, 30th Infantry out of Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He served a three year enlistment. He attended Lakeview Baptist Church in Longview, TX, where he was led to Jesus by his Pastor Ted White, Mr. Robert Williams, and Mr. Wayne Perry. He had lived in Oklahoma where he worked for the State and for the Zoo, he moved to California for a brief time and worked with animals there, he moved back to Texas and lived in Longview before moving to Wylie. While in Wylie his health started to fail and he was in Parkland Hospital, moved to Plaza One in Dallas, Pittsburg Nursing Home, UT Pittsburg Hospital, UT Tyler Hospital, and for a short time lived at Windsor Rehabilitation and Health Center in Terrell, Texas. He received Hospice care from Alinea Hospice while there. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation for the excellent care and support we have received from the above as well as Goggans Funeral Home for being there for us at this time.
He is survived by his sister, MinnieV (Sue) Aman of Terrell, TX; brother, Robert Dan (Butch) Kennedy of Carlin, NV; Step-Daughter Virginia Ann Kennedy of Oklahoma City; son, Lloyd Edward Kennedy of Oklahoma City; niece Kathy and husband Kip Gandy of Terrell, TX, Niece-Lisa Kennedy of Carlin, NV; niece-Susie LaFaivre of Carlin, NV; nephew-Robert Kennedy of Carlin, NV; nephew, Rusty and wife, Debra Wilcox of Leonard, TX; along with numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Doris; grandparents, Ollie and Lula Kennedy; grandmother, Leona Laura Worcester; and Great-Nephew, Jason Gandy.
In Lieu of flowers the family ask that you make a donation to one of the following in his memory: Dallas-Fort Worth Veterans Cemetery, Alzheimer's Association--Alz.org, or Dementia Society of America, or the American Diabetes Association.
