James had a long career with many achievements, he worked at General Dynamics in Fort Worth. James also worked at the United States Postal Service in Fort Worth. He drove a truck for Jacobs Transportation in Rockwall, TX and for DWBSI in Lancaster, TX. James loved driving the 18-Wheeler for J.D. and working long hours. He was most happy driving in the purple truck.
Some of James proudest moments and first love was growing his garden at home. He loved telling stories and talking about his garden and showing everyone what he was growing. His family and friends could listen to him all the time telling everyone about his garden and the many things he grew. When he worked at the Walmart Garden Center, people would always come to him with gardening questions and he would always make sure to found out the answer no matter what. When James retired, he bought a big red tractor and started growing and selling from his own garden. One of James proudest moments was him taking what he grew in his garden to the Farmers Market and selling it all and sharing with people the stories of how he grew it all. Describing James’s personality, others would say that whoever he met they instantly became a friend for life, no matter who they were he was a good friend to everyone and never knew a stranger.
James was such a family man, he loved seeing all of his family. One of his fondest memories was him being around all of his grandchildren, he loved seeing, and spending time with them. He also loved to cook, he was well known for his signature banana pudding and sweet potato pie, he always had to make extra for others. James also enjoyed when Billie would come down and they would make sausage and gravy and coconut pies. He really loved going to his brothers, sisters, mom and dad’s house for the holidays. He enjoyed spending time with everyone during the holidays and listening to all the wonderful stories everyone had to share.
James loved being outdoors, he loved going hunting and fishing with the family, J.D., Jeff, Milton and Chris. All they had to do is just ask and he was always right there ready to go. James loved sitting on the porch and waiving to all of the neighbors as they passed by. He loved working on cars and teaching Chris how to fix things, even when Kevin and Bobby they were always fixing something together. He loved his kids and teaching them things. He was always there for them all the time, no matter even if they were in trouble he was right there to help. James was that way with everyone, at any time always there to lend a helping hand.
