James Ernest Cobb, 74, passed away on his birthday, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in Forney, Texas. James was born on February 18, 1940 to Ernest and Nell Cobb in Terrell, Texas. James wore many hats during his life. He worked in construction; built and assembled heavy machinery. He was in law enforcement and worked for the Terrell State Hospital for many years. James loved the outdoors and was an enthusiastic gun collector. But James' greatest passion was his family. He loved to spend time with his wife; his brother, children and grandchildren. His family was his greatest source of joy and comfort. His was a light that will truly be missed by those who knew him best. James is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Nell Cobb and his nephew, Justin Livingston. Those left to celebrate his life include his wife of twenty years, Cheryl Cobb; his daughters, Shawna Colbert, Shalon Davis and her husband Shane; sons, Doug Beasley and his wife Lica, Dwayne Beasley and his wife Sylvia, Jason Beasley and his wife Christy; grandchildren, Allen Colbert, Kyle Colbert, Raven Davis, Hunter Davis, Blair Newberry and her husband Bobby, Hannah Flurry, Zaiden Beasley and Colton Beasley; great-grandchildren, Connor Colbert and Alexis Newberry; brother Roger Livingston and his wife Dianne; sister-in-law, Becky Garrison; as well as numerous friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held the following day, Friday, February 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Small Cemetery in Edgewood, Texas.
