J W Williamson, 94, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. J W was born on February 26, 1919 to Sylvestir and Eva Marie Williamson in Chisolm, Texas. He would served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army during World War II and go on to meet and later marry Christelle Chris Briggs in 1944. J W worked for Ford Motor Company for over thirty years. He then worked for Terrell State Hospital for twelve years before retiring. J W was 32nd Degree Mason, a 50 Plus Year member of the A.C. Garrett Lodge and a Shriner. A lifelong Methodist, J W was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Terrell for over 40 years. J W was a master gardener who loved to make things grow. He loved spending time outside in his garden and enjoyed watching and helping living things grow. But most of all J W loved his family. He looked forward to the time he would spend with his God-daughter, God-grandchildren, brothers and sisters. His true passion was his love for his family. J W was a loving God-father, God- grandfather, brother and friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. J W is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvestir and Eva Marie; his beloved wife Chris; brothers, Hershel, Haskell, Donald and Jack; sisters, Aline, Pauline and Josephine. Those left to celebrate his life include his sister, Sophia Williamson; God-daughter, Cathy Wheeler and her husband James; God-grandchildren, Lesley and Michael Wheeler; his companion Lee Barringer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, January 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Terrell, Texas. Interment will immediately follow the service at Oakland Memorial Park.
