Irene Washam

Irene Granny Washam, of Thompson Station, TN, where she had lived with her son who so lovingly had cared for her, passed away June 30, 2011. She was born March 19, 1917 Sharpe, KY, the daughter of Herbert and Annie (Swain) Lyles. Irene married Rubel (Pappy) Washam in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1976. She was a member of church of Christ. She is survived by Benny and Linda Britton, Charlie Washam; five grand children, Shawn Tidwell (Carlton), Shane Britton (Paige), Shay Britton (Vickie), Jared Washam (Moira), and Eryn Brown (Josh); eight great grandchildren, Britton, Annie, Brooklyn, Chandler, Berkeley, Rowyn, Asher, and Amara; brother, Ed Lyles (Delores); and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Her graveside service will be Saturday, July 2, at 11:00 am at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell. Viewing and visitation was held Friday night July 1, from 6 to 8 at Linda and Benny Brittons home, 102 Main St., Terrell.
