Helen Whitaker

Helen Lorene Martin Whitaker, 92, of Mesquite, passed away in the early morning of May 15, 2011. She was born November 27, 1918 in Apache, OK, the daughter of Hollis and Ona (Preston) Martin. Helen married Joe Bob Whitaker who precedes her in death. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Terrell on Brin and Rockwall. She was a Vice President of American National Bank before her retirement. She is survived by her two children, Mark Whitaker of Mesquite and Diana de Carmo of Houston; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Martin of Apache OK; one niece and five nephews. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kay Whitaker; two brothers, Howard Martin and Ernest Martin; and sister, Ella McDaniel. Her graveside service is planned for Wednesday, May 18, at 10:30 am in the Oakland Memorial Park with Brother Jimmy Sheppard officiating. Visitation with the family is planned for Tuesday night 6-8 pm at Goggans Funeral Home in Terrell.
