Charlie Sams

Charlie Sams, 78, passed away February 29, 2012 in Garland. He was born September 12, 1933 in Cooper, the son of Joe and Lucille (Helm) Sams. Charlie married Bonnie Tatum who preceded him in death in 1995. He was a member of Longcreek Baptist Church in Sunnyvale. He was a produce manager for Kroger, Tom Thumb, and Albertsons Food Stores before his retiring. Mr. Sams is survived by a son, Paul Tatum and his wife Carol of San Antonio; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and long term companion and best friend, Nelda Homes. He is also preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Genell Sams and Ellen Jo Davis. His funeral service is planned for Saturday, March 3 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Goggans Funeral Home with Rev. Don Ivey officiating. His burial will follow the service in Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell. Visitation with the family is planned for Friday night, March 2, from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
