Cecil W. Tapp, 87, passed away March 8, 2012 in Terrell. He was born August 18, 1924 in Royse City, the son of Ed and Alsie (Miller) Tapp. Cecil married Edith Ruth Hembree July 26, 1946 in Quinlan and she preceded him in death. He was a member of Assembly of God Church. He served his country during WWII in the US Army. Before retiring, he worked for Vander Horst Company as a machine operator. Mr. Tapp is survived by a son, Cecil Tapp and his wife Donna of Terrell; three grandchildren, Justin Tapp and his wife Desi, Kyle Hughes and his wife Amy, and Brad Hughes and his wife Mimi; nine great grandchildren Katie Hughes, Austin Hawthorne, Clayton Hawthorne, Kurtis Hughes, Taylor Hughes, Lane Hughes, and Hunter Tapp; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is also preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Edith Marie Hughes Scott; five brothers, Ott Smith, Ramond Tapp, Olean Tapp, L. T. Tapp, and Orban Tapp; and sister, Maurine Danewood. His funeral service is planned for Saturday, March 10 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Goggans Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Allgood and Rev. T. L. Thompson officiating. His burial will follow the service in Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell. Visitation with the family is planned for Friday night, March 9, from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
