Avis Myrtle Flanagan, 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Mesquite, Texas. Avis was born to James Marvin and Ammie Beck Keys on January 19, 1922 in Van Zandt County, Texas. Avis would meet and later marry Avon Curtis Flanagan on September 16, 1945. To this union were born two sons, James, David, and one daughter, Margaret. Avis is preceded in death by her parent, James and Ammie; her beloved husband, Curtis and her brother, Howard Keys. She is survived by her sons; James Flanagan and his wife Sandra, David Flanagan and his wife Carol; daughter, Margaret Lane; grandchildren, Kim Hague and her husband Joey, Ammie Morgan and her husband Kyle, Randy Truett and his wife Heather, Chastity Holman and her husband Robert, Cherish Lennon and her husband Dustin, Chelsea Flanagan, Michael Flanagan and Scott Flanagan; great-grandchildren, Travis Bearden, Jarrod Hague, Tyler Hague, Alex Morgan, Modesty Bowden, Tyson Truett, Trinity Truett, Mitchell Murry, Rylee Haven and Cooper Holman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Goggans Funeral Home, Terrell, Texas. A funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point, Texas. Reverend Jerry Truett and Chastity Holman will officiate.
